Our client wanted an entertainment system for his new apartment installed and what better way to do that than with a Smart TV? A Smart TV basically provides you with access to the internet like Google or Netflix as well as allows you to stream music and watch Youtube. And that is exactly why our client wanted it. He called on us due to a recommendation from his friend, and upon arriving within the hour, successfully installed his 55 inch Smart TV with the wire hidden on the wall.

He was thankful and said that he would contact us again for our services! This now brings us to our next topic, do all soundbars work with any TV?

Do All Soundbars Work With Any TV?

Soundbars are a popular choice for TV owners who want better sound than what their TV speakers can provide but don't have the space or money for an additional sound system.

But how do you know if a soundbar works with your TV? Aside from a successful 55 inch TV and Soundbar installation for our client, we had to troubleshoot it first to make sure that it was working smoothly and without lag. You usually need to tinker first with the audio settings when connecting the soundbar to the TV to have that crisp audio output.

But do all soundbars work with any TV? The answer is yes! Soundbars work with any TV, whether they are Smart TVs or CRT television sets. They can be connected via different options and that is what we'll explain in our next segment.

How To Get Your TV To Recognize A Sound Bar?

There are plenty of situations where your soundbars give you a little bit of trouble, like soundbar not working with tv or the soundbar has lagged and we're here to help you!

If you've ever set up a soundbar, you've probably encountered a situation where your TV doesn't recognize the new speakers. You know that the soundbar is working because it makes noise without any issue, but when you go to change the audio output settings on your TV, it doesn't recognize the new device. The problem is simple: your TV doesn't have the correct settings for the soundbar.

To get your TV to recognize a soundbar, you must connect the output on the TV to the input of the soundbar, then go to Settings on your TV, click audio output settings, and choose the right settings that match your TV. For example, if you have an old CRT Television Set and can only use an AUX cable to connect to your soundbar, just follow the first advice and click on the AUX input. There are plenty of ways of connecting soundbar to TV and here are the ways you can do it;

  • HDMI ARC
  • Digital Optical
  • AUX
  • Bluetooth

Using any of these options to connect the soundbars for TVs will provide you all the same results, a better sound system than the one integrated into your TVs. All of these have the same process, once you've connected the soundbar to the TV via Bluetooth, HDMI, AUX, or Digital Optical, you must go to the settings, and audio output settings, and tinker with it a bit since it probably would have lip sync issues or delays.

Sound Bar Still Not Working With The TV?

Having a soundbar guarantee that you can have a good entertainment system if you don't want a Home Theater System, one with multiple large speakers surrounding your room. However, if you've tried the options from above and your soundbar still won't work, you'll have to troubleshoot or let Over The Top Mounts handle it for you! But in any case, here are some straightforward steps that you can do before contacting us:

  • First off, you can disconnect and reconnect the cables. Meaning, you have to disconnect the HDMI wires, AUX cords, and Digital Optical Wires from the soundbar to the TV. If you had the soundbar installation with the wire hidden on the walls, then contacting a trained technician from Over The Top Mounts is the only choice. You don't want to wreck your walls just because the soundbar is not working with the TV.
  • Second, you have to make sure that your soundbars for TVs is not muted as well as your TV. You can check the settings on your TV if it is muted or just look for the button on your remote. If your soundbar is muted, it probably has something to do with the cables not being on the right input.
  • Restart your TV and Soundbar by turning them off and on.
  • Check the settings again in the Audio Output Settings.

Do All Smart Tvs Have Bluetooth?

One of the nice features of a Smart TV is that it can stream from devices like your phone or tablet. This is convenient for things like social media, but you might also be able to use it for streaming music—if you have a Bluetooth-enabled soundbar. Not all Smart TVs have Bluetooth, though, so if you want to connect your Smart TV to your soundbar for wireless music streaming, you'll want to make sure the TV has built-in Bluetooth.

These days, almost every TV manufacturer has their own brand of Smart TVs with built-in Bluetooth. Some older models might not have this feature enabled, but when you're buying a 55 inch TV from one of the big brands (like the one our client purchased), it's guaranteed to have Bluetooth built-in. Because this feature is such a staple of the latest Smart TVs, any potential buyer should check whether or not their desired set has Bluetooth before they buy.
